CHRIS MCDONALD
FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL, ECD
POWERED BY RELATIONSHIPS
Only a few years out of college (Go Blue!), Chris McDonald began Designworks Advertising in 1998. The agency was built on relationships. Deep, strong, long-standing relationships. He understood that strong relationships with the client would allow the agency to grow, and the collaborative partnership with the client would bring about the best results possible benefiting all involved. That’s why some clients have been with the agency since day one.
Chris leads the business, vision and culture for the agency and ensures that the work presented is always smart, creative, strategic, and brave. With over 25 years of experience, Chris and the team have won many industry awards including the American Advertising Awards (ADDY's), MarCom, Aster, and many others.
In 2011, he was honored with the National (AAF) American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award for his achievement in advertising and his work within his community.
Chris has been actively involved in the American Advertising Federation (AAF) since 1998 and currently serving as the AAF Central Region Chair. The Central Region serves 18 mid-western states and its 12,000 members from 84 local ad clubs. Over the years, he has also served as the AAF Greater Flint ADDY® Awards Chair (8 times), AAF Greater Flint President, AAF District 6 Governor and Chairman, a three-year chair of the AAF District 6 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). He has also served on the AAF National Executive Board of Directors, the AAF National Council of Governors, and the National American Advertising Awards Committee, just to name a few. He is a AAF Silver Medal Award recipient and has also received a Certificate of Achievement from the AAF Institute for Advertising Ethics.
Additionally, he still actively serves on the local AAF Greater Flint ad club Board of Directors, continuing his over 20 year tenure, as well as serving on several other local business and athletic board of directors and committees within the Grand Blanc and Genesee County areas. He and his wife have three wonderful, beautiful children - two sons and one daughter, and reside in Grand Blanc.
